Transportation Planner/Engineer


The Central Transportation Planning Staff (CTPS) of the MPO is seeking a qualified manager for its Congestion Management Process (CMP).

The CMP monitors and analyzes congestion, mobility, and safety on the region´s transportation system and recommends strategies for improvement. The following facilities and services are included in this process: freeways, arterials, intersections, HOV lanes, transit, park-and-ride lots, bicycle parking spaces, transportation-demand-management services, and pedestrian facilities. The CMP also provides input to the development of the UPWP, the TIP, and the Regional Transportation Plan. To learn more about the CMP, visit the Mobility Monitoring pages.

A bachelor´s or higher-level degree (preferred) in urban/regional or transportation planning or another, closely related field and three years of relevant experience are required.

The qualified candidate must also have:
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience in data collection, cleaning, and processing
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, GIS, and traffic engineering software
  • Excellent project-management, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations and prepare high-quality written products
Knowledge of the basics in web design is desirable. Familiarity with relevant federal metropolitan-planning-process legislation is a plus.
