AACT Executive Board Meeting Summary

The meeting opened at 10:22 A.M.

The AACT Board members were reminded of the importance of signing the open meeting law document of the Massachusetts General Laws (MGL).

Chairman’s Report

        Acting-Interim Chairman (IC) White reported on a varitey      items. The main items discussed were:

·       AACT is celebrating 35 years of service.

·       The membership attendances at AACT’s meetings are increasing.

·       The membership is invited to attend the AACT Executive Board meetings which are open to the public.

·       Nominations for the AACT Board will open on January 23 and close on April 24.

·       The Interim Chair is trying to plan an update on the Fairmount Line Project on an upcoming agenda.

 

·       Premium Service began with a software glitch that overcharged persons going from Boston to Boston. Vendors were reluctant to make refunds. After speaking with M. Lambert, special assistant to Acting GM Davis, the issue was resolved.

Group Discussion

The following items were discussed:

·        AACT Bylaws and the following possible suggestions for changes:

o Revision to add language that would allow the Chair or Acting Interim Chair to appoint a Vice-Chair when necessary.

o Member eligibility criteria to run for office and the duties and responsibilities.

o Addition of temporary Board Members.

Action: None was taken on any of the proposed changes.

·        The possibility of Board Member conflict of interest with other organizations.

·        Premium Service refunds on trips from Boston to       Boston; vendors have no authority to reverse charges.

Action: Will be discussed with OTA management.

·        The group expressed an interest in promptness of drop-offs by THE RIDE for many consumers.

Action: IC White will contact with OTA management.

·        THE RIDE consumers may request statements to verify how much money was paid for transportation. It was noted that it is a person’s legal right to get a receipt for services paid with cash.

Action: None taken.

·     The public continues to block bus stops.

Action: IC White will contact the MBTA Transit Police Chief MacMillan to send out reminders to local cities and towns to ticket vehicles that block bus stops.

·     Recertification Class for bus operators at Charlestown Garage (CG) training facility on October 29 and a Safety Meeting at the Joint Venture facility on November 13.

Action: IC White will contact Kevin Voultour at the CG at 617-222-5306 for Mary A. Murray and he will attend the Safety Meeting at the Joint Venture.
