The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization will hold its regularly scheduled, September 20, 2012, MPO meeting in Newton.

 

The MPO is scheduled to hear a presentation from Newton officials on transportation issues in Newton. Members will discuss several proposed scopes of work for upcoming planning studies and will possibly take action on some of these. The results of two studies recently completed by MPO staff will also be presented.

DIRECTIONS TO THE NEWTON FREE LIBRARY



• By car

o FROM NORTH, SOUTH, WEST: Get on Route 128 and proceed to Exit 24 (Route 30/ Commonwealth Avenue). At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Route 30 and go EAST towards Newton and Boston. Proceed on Route 30 for 3.1 miles and bear right at the traffic light onto Homer Street.

o FROM EAST: Take the MassPike or Commonwealth Avenue west towards Newton.

• If you take the MassPike, leave the MassPike at Exit 17 (Newton- Watertown). Stay in the middle lane at the end of the exit ramp and go straight ahead onto Washington Street. Continue on Washington Street for 1.3 miles to Walnut Street. Turn left onto Walnut Street and drive south for 1.1 miles to Homer Street. Turn right onto Homer Street and drive past the library to the adjacent parking lot on the left.

• If you take Commonwealth Avenue, continue west from Boston or Brookline through Newton until you reach Walnut Street (about 2 miles into Newton). Turn left onto Walnut Street and drive one block to Homer Street. (You will see the library across the street at the corner of Homer and Walnut Streets.) Turn right onto Homer Street and drive past the library to the adjacent parking lot on the left.

• By public transportation

o Green Line’s D Line (the “Riverside Branch”) – Get off at Newton Highlands Station, which is about one mile from the library. The #59 bus may be taken from this station to the library.

o Framingham commuter rail line – Newtonville Station is about one mile from the library. The #59 bus may be taken from this station to the library.

o Needham commuter rail line – Needham Heights station is about four miles from the library. The #59 bus may be taken from this station to the library.

o #59 bus – Stops on the corner of Homer Street and Walnut Street, right across from the library. This bus connects to all three rail lines listed above.
