Support the five substitutions of "College Avenue" for "Medford Hillside (College Avenue)" in Amendment Two of the TIP. These corrections, when incorporated in the STIP, will bring the location of the Green Line station at College and Boston Avenues into conformity with federal mapping standards, as required under regulations governing funding for all federal grants in aid (OMB Circular A-16). Notes that the previous use of "Medford Hillside" for this station derived from a mislabeling of state maps in which "College Hill" on the Medford portion of the Tufts University Campus was mistaken for "Medford Hillside," a neighborhood to the north of Tufts University. Support the correction to the description of the Green Line Extension Project, removing the name "Medford Hillside" that had been erroneously paired with the College Avenue station reference. Thanks the MPO for their attention to this matter and for their support for the Green Line Extension Project to Mystic Valley Parkway/Route 16. It is essential to fulfilling the laudable goals of the Green Line Extension Project. State that the Green Line Extension to Route 16 can meet the mandate of the SIP to bring the Green Line to Medford Hillside, serve more people boosting transit ridership, fulfill the promise of air quality benefits, provide benefits equitably, including to environmental justice populations, and facilitate transit-oriented development. |

Route 1 Improvement Project | Request | Municipalities: City of Malden (Mayor Christenson), City of Revere (Mayor Rizzo), and Town of Saugus (Robert Palleschi, Temporary Town Manager) | Request that the Commonwealth take definitive action in addressing the dangerously outmoded and totally inadequate section of Route 1 from Copeland Circle at the northern end in Revere to the junction of Route 99 at the Saugus-Malden line. State that this corridor has a negative impact on all of the communities along Route 1, from the Boston city line to the New Hampshire border, including severe traffic jams, and a significant waste of consumable energy, productive time and human potential. Request that CTPS and the MPO make this a priority in the TIP and ask that MassDOT Project Selection Advisory Committee meet with chief executives of the three communities and with other key stakeholders to discuss a resolution to this transportation problem, and that their respective legislative delegations be part of this process. Ask that this take place before the next STIP is adopted. Attached previous correspondence to the MPO from the Cities of Malden and Revere and the Town of Saugus detailing the longstanding issues and concerns along the Route 1 corridor. |
