The Town of Bellingham respectfully submits its candidacy for the SouthWest Advisory Planning Committee (SWAP) subregional seat on the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
As a growing community at the intersection of the Boston, MetroWest, and Blackstone Valley regions, Bellingham recognizes the importance of strong regional transportation connections. If selected, Bellingham would bring a municipal perspective focused on roadway safety, multimodal infrastructure, public transportation, and transportation investments that support housing and economic development.
Bellingham is committed to working collaboratively with the other SWAP communities, MAPC, MassDOT, MBTA, and MPO staff to advance transportation priorities that benefit the subregion as a whole. In particular, the Town is interested in improving connections among SWAP communities, regional employment centers, housing, and commuter rail and transit services.
Bellingham is prepared to provide an active, collaborative, and constructive municipal voice on the MPO and looks forward to contributing to the continued regional planning efforts of SWAP.
