—Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
In the years since 1964, two Executive Orders and their related statutes have expanded the populations protected under the umbrella of Title VI.
- Executive Order 12898 is concerned with environmental justice for minority and low-income populations.
- Executive Order 13166 mandates equal access to services and benefits for those individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP).
Every three years, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requires the MPO to submit a report that documents the steps it has taken and will take to ensure compliance with the requirements of Title VI. The MPO prepared its 2014 Title VI report in accordance with the guidance and reporting requirements found in the FTA’s Circular 4702.1B.
