Image excerpted from study showing aerial photography of one of the Swampscott intersections with one alternative set of proposed changes overlaidThis memorandum details the MPO's study of the approaches to Stanley Elementary School in Swampscott, MA. Stanley Elementary is expanding into a consolidated school, which a prior consultant-led traffic study estimated could generate up to 1,862 net new trips per day at full capacity. MPO staff assessed existing and anticipated future conditions and developed recommendations which, if implemented, will improve safety and comfort for all road users. These recommendations were developed with an emphasis on facilitating the ability for vulnerable road users, such as students and parents, to access the school safely by walking and biking.
